Energy is the resource TRON uses to run smart contracts, such as TRC-20 token transfers. If your address has no energy, the network burns TRX to cover it.

How much energy does a TRC-20 transfer use?
Most TRC-20 transfers use about 65,000 energy, or about 131,000 when the recipient has never held that token. Some tokens need less. Your wallet shows the exact amount before you sign.
Does sending TRX need energy?
No. A plain TRX transfer uses no energy, only about 267 bandwidth. Every account gets 600 free bandwidth a day; after that, each transfer burns about 0.27 TRX.
Do I need to share my private key?
No. Energy is delegated to your public address. Never share your seed phrase or private key with anyone.
